Anne Wills

Anne Wills, was born in Wangaratta in 1944, returned with her family to Ocean Island, Central Pacific near Nauru and lived there until the family moved to Adelaide in 1963.

Willsy was spotted by Channel 9 Executives during the 1964 Telethon Quest, and was offered the job of Weather Girl on NWS9 which began in July, 1965.

By 1967 she was appearing with Ernie Sigley on “Adelaide Tonight” twice a week: a very successful partnership which lasted until December 1973, when Sigley moved interstate.

Anne Wills has won more Logies than any other personality in Australia: 19 MOST POPULAR STATE PERSONALITY logies, and one as producer of During that time Willsy was first female in S.A. to host Adelaide Tonight in 1970, when Sigley was overseas: she visited Vietnam with her sister Susan as the Wills Sisters, a very successful singing duo).

In fact the WILLS SISTERS went back on stage after an absence of 30years in March 2001 and did a highly successful concert tour around the state of S.A.CLAPPERBOARD.

In April 1974 she co-hosted “THE PENTHOUSE CLUB” on ADS7 with Bob Francis, winning another Logie in 1975.

In 1980 she began her love affair with movies by starting a movie show on Channel 9 called “CLAPPERBOARD”, winning another Logie for Best SA Show and Most Popular SA Personality that year.

In 1981 she went to Channel 10 Adelaide and “CLAPPERBOARD” became “MOVIE SCENE”…which ran for a successful 17 years.
As part of her commitment to the show she is a guest at the ACADEMY AWADS ceremony in LA.

In 1984 she again went back to being the weather girl on Channel 10 (which in 1989 changed call signals and became Channel 7) and stayed their weather presenter right through until the end of 1997.

In 1992 she co-hosted a new morning show, “A.M. ADELAIDE”, which was highly successful.

Anne Wills has had a full life with-in the television industry and many other avenues winning the hearts of many.
