Brian Penglase

Was an Australian singer based in Adelaide who fronted “The Penny Rockets”, “The Hi Marks” and “The Moontones”

Brian was one of Adekaide’s pioneers of Rock and Roll when it first became popular in the fifties along with the members most notably “The Penny Rockets”.

BriAn recorded several tracks notably “Johnny B. Good”. For that period the recoording was superb.

The Saturday night Rock ‘n’ Roll Dance came to suburban South Australia in the late 1956/1957. Brian Penglase and the “Penny Rockets”developed pop and rock music which helped encourage the musical transition from 60/40 to Rock & Roll, later appearing during the 50’s on the big shows for Lee Gordon. Brian Penglase also recorded with the Hi Marks on the Planet Label

Brian mived to Port Augusta South Australia in his later days.

Sadly Brian passed away in July 2012.
