FATTY LUMPKIN (band)

Fatty Lumpkin (band)

Great group in their day bit like Jethro Tull Fatty Lumpkin were formed in Perth at the end of 1971.

Members included:

John Worrall on vocals

John Meyer on guitar

Roy Daniels on bass

Al Kash on drums

They began gigging at Uncle Sam’s in Subiaco. The original lineup only lasted a couple of months and then typically, the group went through many lineup changes during their short tenure. In March 1973 they supported The Rolling Stones at the WACA in Perth. Fatty Lumpkin issued four singles over their four-year career; the first two ”Don’t Knock The Boogie” in 1973 and ”Millionaire” in 1974 were issued on Martin Clarke’s Clarion label, the latter two were on Festival.

The band split at the end of 1976. Ian McFarlane describes the singles as balancing “jazzy hard rock with lofty, flute-led progressive ballads (somewhere between Jethro Tull and Focus) replete with quasi-Santanaesque lead guitar from Meyer”

Members John Worrall (vocals, flute), John Meyer (guitar), Phil Pruiti (guitar), Lindsay Wells (guitar), Roy Daniels (bass), Bob Fortescue (bass), Mick Glendinning (bass), Jon Rider (bass, vocals), Warran Ward (bass), Rex Bullen (keyboards), Al Kash (drums), David Little (drums), Tom Watts (drums)
