Ian Saxon and the Sound

The band originally formed in Aukland under the name of “Sounds Unlimited” headed by Maurie Chan. Then Dave Ball , Barry Brackenborough, and Bill Patient moved to Australia Gold Coast in 1968, and became Ian Saxon and the Sound.

Maurie stayed as did Graham Watson in NZ.

The group completely disbanded in 1972.

Ian Saxon released one single in 1965 called “I’m Getting Better”/”He Gives Me Love” on the Viscount label. The record was released as by Ian Saxon and the Creditors.

This group included Ian on guitar ands vocals, Colleen Hewitt on vocals, Geoff Oakes on saxophone, and Graham Trotman on drums also Peter Mackay became part of the band at one stage.

As Ian Saxon and the Sound the group worked for the Ivan Dayman circut during the late sixties on the east coast and also at the then popular “Swinger” in Adelaide, South Australia.

Ian Saxon and the Sound released two singles in 1970.

“Home Cooking”/”I’m Satisfied”
“Brother Where Are You”/”Love Doesn’t Always Find A Way”

There has been dispute in regards to where and when the band actually disbanded.

Ian Saxon currently living with family in New Zealand.
