Ian Scott

An Australian Vocalist, Guitarist, Bassist.

Over 45 years in the entertainment industry makes “Scotty” almost a pioneer in the field of Rock N’ Roll, certainly in the field of country Rock music.

His Beginning in the music world was as a classically trained woodwind player.

“THE TORNADOES” were formed in the early 60’s, and some new careers were kicked off, as was the beginning for both the young Terry Britten and Ian.

The Adelaide TORNADOES worked for nearly two years, performing two to three nights a week. Saturday and Sunday saw the band residing at “Joe’s PRIMITIFF Club”, in a downstairs cellar in the east end of Rundle street, Adeliade.

Ian played upright bass in various jazz groups after studying the instrument under the late Ron CARSON, bass and banjo master.

“THE REDBACKS”

Ian and Jim SPEAR formed “The Redbacks” that included Peter POWER, drummer Mike CARMODY, and Tommy LINDBLOM, with Doug PEARCE playing bass. “THE REDBACKS” ran their own dance nights in Elizabeth and Salsbury situated north of Adelaide.

The band also performed at the “Octagon Theatre” in Elizabeth, and the “KT Club” in King William street, Adelaide.

A number of appearances at Leagues and Legions Clubs, showed the boys how much more opportunity was available in Sydney while they were there.They also had the chance to support Reg Lindsay, a national TV and recording icon at the time. “Surf City” in Kings Cross, Sydney booked the band as well.

“TOM & JERRY”

Guitar duo Tom & Jerry – Variety Sydney – formed in the mid sixties. Toured from the Kevin Jacobsen’s agency. This included Ian and Peter Power.

“THE SCOTT BROTHERS’

A country and Variety trio act that also performed as a band at times. They were on national TV shows often over a five year period. They made two albums, one of which was double album of Rugby Songs which was a huge seller in Australia.

“COUNTRY MUSIC BANDS”

“THE COUNTRY THREE” – “WILD OATS” – (MD for 25 years) also “MILLER BAND”.

“JAZZ”

During this period Ian played “freelance” playing upright bass and guitar with the late Tommy Richardson and the late Ross Nelson with Bob Rankine vocalist.

A Carnival performer over the eastern half of Australia for many year, Ian will now be appearing at carnivals in five states on the mainland as a soliost performer and Carnival Compere.
