BIOGRAPHICAL PROFILE

The Kiama Club

The Kiama Club was a regular dance night held during the early to mid sixties.

The dance was held at “Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College”.

A Catholic school dance hall just off of the main North Road at Enfield, South Australia. The hall has since been demolished.

The school was and still is situated today on the corner of Regency Road and the Main North Road.

The dance was origially organised by previous scholars of the school at 496 Regency Road, Enfield.

The dance became a regular event for the young ones during the mid sixties fearturing their first dance with a group “Bobby Gardiner and the Pirates”. That group would become one of Adelaide’s top bands during the sixties and the seventies known as “The Harts”.

The dance would later move to the North Adelaide Football club’s hall situated Prospect Oval at Menzies Crescent, Prospect,South Australia.

Later the dance would move to the Prospect Town Hall siuated at
126 Prospect Rd, Prospect. Other entertainers that would grace the club would include Bobby Gardiner, The Pirates, The Marksmen, Helen Geach, Pam Marks, (AKA Pam Tamblyn), The Exiles, Carole Sturtzel, Compere David Flatman and many more artists around that time.

 

One must coment of all of the friends that were involved with running the dance and all of the good times had by all.
